DREKKA   < - - >   ASSIMILATION

DREKKA and ASSIMILATION will be embarking on a short east coast tour in July 2013 to celebrate the release of a split cassette, entitled 'DREKKA <--> ASSIMILATION'.

This cassette is a joint venture between the RED FROST INDUSTRIES and NO! labels... it is also the very first release on NO!, which is run by ASSIMILATION.

The cassette contains live recordings from each artist, reworked and mixed by the other.

DREKKA:

DREKKA performs heavily experimental, cinematic soundtracks to films unmade where the accompanying images are unique to each listener; stylistically and empathetically similar to the soundtracks of Tarkovsky's later films or the more abstract works of Coil.

DREKKA's sound is hushed, cinematic, ambient, ethereal and industrial... at times discordant and menacing, more often communicative and inviting... perfect for any small setting, including homes, gallery spaces, stores... music for those who enjoy filling in the gaps and the imagery that accompanies it.

Deeply felt inspiration is drawn from such luminaries as COIL, SPK, HAFLER TRIO... contemporary examples of shared sounds would include SVARTE GREINER, MACHINEFABRIEK and WOUTER VAN VELDHOVEN.

DREKKA has undertaken over a dozen European excursions since 2002, including over fifty shows in the ITALY, NETHERLANDS and ICELAND alone. Previous European tours have included tourmates RIVULETS (Important/Chairkickers), JESSICA BAILIFF (Kranky/Morc), ANNELIES MONSERE (Auetic/Bluesanct) and VOLLMAR (St. Ives/Bluesanct); all of whom DREKKA has also played ambient guitar, various instruments, vocals with on stage.

Though DREKKA has primarily released mostly via its own BLUESANCT label, upcoming albums will be issued on DAIS RECORDS, TRBRA, and RED FROST INDUSTRIES in late 2013 and into 2014. This will allow DREKKA to focus on touring and exploring a couple artist residencies in Europe for 2014.

ASSIMILATION:

ASSIMILATION is the attempt to reconcile multiple spheres of musical interest in one entity. Starting with the ambience of CYLON and WILLIAM BASINSKI, framed by the harsh noise of KOUFAR, styled with the post-industrial heavy electronics of ALBERICH, and presented live in the spirit of sound artists such as PETER VAN RIPER. A solo project from Indiana, ASSIMILATION uses synthesizers, guitars, loopers, samplers, field recordings, found "instruments" such as sheet metal and leaves, copious amounts of reverb and live mixing to create his sounds on stage.

This is ASSIMILATION's first tour.
