ROCKPILE (issue#95 / Sept 2003):

TURN PALE - 'Kill the Lights' CD

Listeners might compare Turn Pale's 'Kill the Lights' to a bath of scalding water - it hurts at first, eventually feels good, and you never forget those first few blistering moments.  Take Siouxsie and the Banshees' seminal 'Scream' album, subtract Siouxsie's woeful wails, add a rockabilly cronner oddly reminiscent of Cobain, and the end result is 'Kill the Lights'.  Minus the vocals, some tracks (such as "Beneath the Wheel") sound like they could have been shaved from the demos of an aging Johnny Lydon.
