WITH EVERY SEASON (ONE):

I've lost so many things
that I thought that I would need
That I wonder how I still hold onto my mind
So many things
that I thought that I would need
          to find

I write to many lists
as a way to hold onto something
As a way to feel
like I've got something behind me

But, there's this girl I know
          (and I know her well)

She wants to know why
          the seasons can come down
          like an attack

She wants to meet and learn
          from the others
who make sense of all this fear

And she wants to know
          no, she NEEDS to know
                    a life beyond the silence

But, first she needs
          to trick her mind
to rise up off her back

Don't get me wrong
I know it's easier said than won

But, she calls me up
          to say goodnight
As the sun begins to rise

RISE AND SHINE
RISE AND SHINE
